Headshot of Stacey Sickels BoyceTalent Citizen is pleased to congratulate Stacey Sickels Boyce on her appointment as Senior Director of Major Gifts for the West and Midwest Regions at Boston University, effective December 1, 2025. Stacey will lead a talented team of fundraisers and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, while serving as the primary strategist for major gifts in the West and Midwest, two regions that are critical to the university’s fundraising success.

Previously, Stacey served as Senior Associate Director of Development at Stanford University’s Center for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, where she developed and led fundraising strategies for this interdisciplinary research institute (a presidential fundraising priority for AI and Data Science), while managing board-related duties and supporting university-wide collaboration across fundraising teams to align strategy and coordinate major and principal gift activities. Stacey partnered with individuals, corporations, foundations, and governments to support research, education, and policy priorities. She developed partnerships with funders in the U.S. and internationally including Singapore, Hong Kong, the Middle East, and the European Union.

Stacey’s earlier career includes more than seven years of service to the University System of Maryland in roles of increasing responsibility, including as the Director of Development, Regional Programs for the flagship campus in College Park, Maryland as well as the Associate Vice President, Advancement for University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

With more than 30 years of experience in development, Stacey brings expertise in donor cultivation, volunteer engagement, and fundraising strategy with a deep appreciation for the complex landscape of research universities. After beginning her fundraising career as a regional campaign officer for her alma mater, Sweet Briar College, Stacey progressed through fundraising positions at Washington National Cathedral, social impact organizations, and educational institutions in the day school and higher education sectors, including University of Virginia.

Stacey has developed a reputation as an innovator, thought leader, and ambassador for the power of philanthropy to shape moments of transformational change in higher education and society. An active leader within the fundraising profession, Stacey has held numerous volunteer positions, including board leadership with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Council on Resource Development (CRD), as well as content leader for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and member of the Strategic Initiatives Group for Advancement Professionals (SIGAP). A lifelong student, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology from Sweet Briar College, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Management, Nonprofit & Association Management from University of Maryland. Stacey is also credentialed as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), has a Leadership and Management Certificate, as well as participation in Stanford’s Advanced AI Leadership Executive Education program.
