McKee on her appointment as Assistant Dean, Development and Alumni Relations at Boston University College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, effective December 1, 2023. As Assistant Dean, Joy will partner with Dean Stan Sclaroff and lead the College’s fundraising and alumni relations team, cultivating philanthropic engagement and enhancing the College’s connections with alumni and friends.

Joy joins Boston University from University of California, Los Angeles, where she served as Assistant Dean of Development for the Division of Undergraduate Education within UCLA College of Letters and Science. Joy managed a team of five and raised numerous seven- and eight-figure gifts, including the two largest gifts in the history of the division. The outcome of Joy’s diligent work is the creation of a sustainable major gift pipeline that will benefit UCLA’s students, faculty, and wider community in perpetuity. As a trusted advisor to the Dean of Undergraduate Education, Joy sparked new avenues for philanthropic investment and created multiple volunteer leadership councils, including an inaugural Dean’s Advisory Board.

With more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, Joy brings expertise in annual, corporate, foundation, major, principal, and planned giving. Prior to joining UCLA, Joy was Assistant Director of Regional Major Gifts at University of California, Davis. At UC Davis, Joy built inaugural regional fundraising and alumni engagement strategies, ultimately increasing the philanthropic output of her assigned regions by more than 90 percent. Joy previously held fundraising roles of increasing responsibility at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Foundation, Southern Adventist University, and Advent Home Youth Services.

Known as a personable and collaborative colleague, Joy is adept at navigating complex universities to achieve ambitious goals. An active member of the professional community of fundraisers, Joy has served on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals GSFV Chapter, the ACFRE, and Adventist-Laymen’s Services and Industries, among many other volunteer leadership and professional development activities. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Oregon and an MBA from Southern Adventist University. Joy is an Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE), the highest credential possible in fundraising.
