In this role, Chad will partner with Vice Dean for Advancement Deborah Rhebergen and lead a team of professionals responsible for major and principal gift fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, and alumni engagement. As Associate Vice Dean, Chad will collaborate with Development and Alumni Relations colleagues across the university and work closely with the leaders of SAS to engage a highly valued network of alumni across the globe.

Chad joins Penn from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he served as Senior Director of Development since 2016. During his tenure, Chad led a comprehensive development and alumni relations program for the school, managing teams across major gifts, alumni relations, alumni communications, and leadership annual giving. Chad was a key architect of the School of Medicine’s $200 million debt-free medical education initiative and was a critical member of the team that secured a transformational $1 billion gift for financial aid from Bloomberg Philanthropies.

With more than twenty years of experience, Chad’s career includes fundraising roles spanning international relations, university-wide regional fundraising, a school of education, and a school of medicine. Prior to Johns Hopkins Medicine, he served as Campaign Director for the United States Naval Academy Foundation, and previously held roles at the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation and at Johns Hopkins University and its School of Education. Chad began his career in account management and development for organizations in international business and education.

An engaged university citizen, Chad is a member of the advisory boards for the Institute for Excellence in Education, the Welch Medical Library, and Financial Aid at Johns Hopkins University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Towson University.
