In this role, Zach will partner with Associate Vice President for Development Lara Brown de Fuenmayor and lead a team of development and alumni relations professionals responsible for raising philanthropic support for the College of Communication, College of Engineering, Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, School of Law, and Wheelock College of Education & Human Development.

Zach steps into his new position after serving the Boston University School of Law for 12 years, most recently as Associate Dean for Development and Alumni Relations. During his eight-year tenure leading the fundraising team for the School of Law, Zach personally secured annual, major, and principal gifts, set strategy for school-based alumni relations efforts, and managed a team of six professionals. Zach also served on the Dean’s Management Committee and managed the Dean’s Advisory Board. Under Zach’s leadership, the School of Law repeatedly surpassed fundraising goals and contributed to the collaborative culture that defines the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at Boston University.

Zach is a career-long fundraising professional. Prior to BU School of Law, Zach raised funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in annual giving and as assistant director for principal and major gifts. At Dana-Farber, Zach was a primary fundraiser for the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers and held significant volunteer management and fundraising responsibility for the Men’s Collaborative to Cure Women’s Cancers and the Susan Smith Center Executive Council.

Known as a consummate team player, a skilled donor pipeline builder, and for the durable strength of his relationships with Boston University alumni, Zach is eager to build upon his track record of success in support of strategic priorities as the university moves into its next multi-billion-dollar comprehensive campaign.

Zach earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from Tufts University and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in leadership and organizational transformation from Boston University Questrom School of Business.
