Talent Citizen is pleased to announce the appointment of Annie Bares, Ph.D. as Manager, Insights & Analytics at the Mellon Foundation. In this inaugural role, Dr. Bares will work across all areas of the Foundation under the general direction of Senior Director, Strategic Learning & Evaluation Jessica Mindnich, Ph.D. to advance Mellon’s mission by leveraging research, data, and evaluation to inform strategy and measure impact across the Foundation’s grantmaking initiatives.
Annie brings over a decade of experience in arts, humanities, and higher learning sectors, with a deep expertise in mixed-methods research, data analysis, and strategic evaluation. Most recently, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at SMU DataArts, where she collaborated with government agencies, funders, and arts organizations to assess equity in the arts workforce and develop data-driven insights for the field.
Prior to her role at SMU, Annie was a Research Analyst at AEA Consulting, where she led qualitative and quantitative research for projects supporting arts and cultural organizations. She also brings experience from academic and nonprofit sectors, having held positions at Columbia University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the National Civil Rights Museum.
Annie holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin and is passionate about the intersection of the arts, humanities, and social justice, with a commitment to using research to amplify their roles in enriching communities.
