Citizen congratulates Charlotte Porter on her appointment as Principal Philanthropy Advisor at Boston Lyric Opera (BLO), effective March 30, 2026. Working in partnership with Stanford Calderwood General Director & Chief Executive Officer Bradley Vernatter and with colleagues across the Philanthropy and External Affairs team, Charlotte will deepen relationships and cultivate partnerships and principal gifts that will fortify BLO’s national reputation for the quality of its artistry and its vibrant role in the city’s artistic life.

With more than twenty years of leadership roles and fundraising experience within arts organizations, Charlotte is adept at guiding complex gift conversations and strategies, and has contributed to the success of major fundraising campaigns. Early in her career, she held roles at Sotheby’s, Livet Reichard Company, and the Wyly Community Art Center, experiences that shaped her lifelong commitment to supporting artists and art institutions. Charlotte’s fundraising experience is anchored by 15 years of progressively responsible major and principal gift fundraising roles at GBH, including serving as the chief fundraising director for signature programs Masterpiece and American Experience during GBH’s successful $215 million comprehensive campaign.

Charlotte graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and a minor in German from Hamilton College. Her enduring passion for the arts and belief in the power of storytelling to reflect culture, foster connections, and deepen understanding continue to shape her work and commitment to arts organizations. Charlotte’s volunteer leadership includes tutoring in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and serving as a mentor with Year Up. Charlotte also served as a member of the Brand Alliance Committee at the Sundance Film Festival and as a member of GBH’s Innovation Committee.

As a long-time Boston resident, Charlotte is looking forward to contributing to the enduring legacy of Boston Lyric Opera and joins as the Company is poised to launch its 50th Anniversary Season.
