Talent Citizen congratulates Catie Kim on her appointment as Director, Special Initiatives at Boston University, effective October 30, 2023. Catie will work in partnership with Associate Vice President, Special Initiatives Ron Gray to lead a donor-centric fundraising program on behalf of the Faculty of Computing & Data Sciences, ensuring a coordinated and thoughtful approach to all activities meant to engage BU’s leading prospects and donors for data science.
Catie’s fundraising career includes service to nonprofit advocacy, museum, and healthcare organizations, sharpening her fundraising expertise and positioning her to partner with academic leaders to build strategies and foster meaningful relationships that translate to investment in the mission of BU. Previously, she served as Senior Major Gifts Officer for Beverly Hospital in the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system and managed a large portfolio of donors and prospects. Though recent years have been challenging in the healthcare space, Catie persisted in identifying previously unaffiliated donors and cultivating their philanthropy to the important mission of the hospital. Previously, Catie was a Major Gifts Officer the Peabody Essex Museum, where she secured six-figure gifts and various commitments from institutions and individuals. Catie started her career at The Anti-Defamation League, where she grew in responsibility and expanded her work as she progressed to become Assistant Director of Development, advancing and managing the organization’s Associate Board.
Known for her collaborative and entrepreneurial working style and for her strengths as a strategic and resilient fundraiser, Catie is well suited for this leadership position. An active volunteer leader, Catie was a director on the executive board of Pilgrim John Howland Society and was a member of the Anti-Defamation League’s New England Region Associate Board.
Catie earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
